What if monotheism wasn’t the old moon we too often think it is? What if it carried within it a vision of man full of promise for the future? “Know before whom you stand”, said the Talmud. According to this teaching, it is the relationship with the one God that gives meaning to humanity. All the religions stemming from the Bible thus share a vision of the world which, according to Shmuel Trigano, must become our viaticum for confronting the widespread crisis we are experiencing. Shmuel Trigano teaches the sociology of politics and religion at Paris-X-Nanterre University. He founded the Collège des études juives de l’Alliance israélite universelle and the European review of Jewish studies and culture Pardès. Author of numerous works in the fields of political philosophy, spirituality and history, he has notably published L’Idéal démocratique à l’épreuve de la Shoah.
